Living and Working

Lafayette Parish and the surrounding parishes were settled by the Acadians that were expelled from Nova Scotia in the 1700's. The heritage of these settlers is still prevalent with the speaking of 'Cajun French', traditions, Cajun and Zydeco music, and French names such as Broussard, Girouard, Arceneaux and Billeaud. This heritage makes the City of Broussard a rich and fulfilling place to live and work.

The City of Broussard and the surrounding area has experienced tremendous growth in the last 20 years. New subdivisons have been developed, new roads have improved the infrastructure of the area, retail stores and restaurants have opened and new businesses have relocated and existing businesses have expanded. Even with this expansion Broussard remains a quaint city with the peace and security of a small town.
